Reference Sheet - ArubaOS Most Useful Commands

5/19/2017

A while back, I worked on a reference sheet on the most useful Cisco AireOS commands. It was well received and Cédric Terrier from WattisWiFi contacted me to build a similar reference sheet for the ArubaOS. He has a lot of experience with Aruba and came up with a list of all the commands he uses on a regular basis. I recently worked on an Aruba deployment and thought it would be the perfect time to work on building this reference sheet. So this reference sheet is a result of our collaboration.

Feel free to download and use the reference sheet as much as you want. Don't hesitate to tell us what you think. This is the first version and we are hoping to improve it with your feedbacks.

One that I have always found very useful in troubleshooting client connectivity issues is "show ap client trail-info <client MAC>" . It shows the client roaming history for the last 10 AP's.

Hi Francois,

Nice ''Reference Sheet''.

Please check there are some typo:
Gain full access to the CLI: <ctrl>+<esc>+k

<esc>+<ctrl>+k (in this order) to avoid windows shortcut <ctrl>+<esc> that Opens Start menu

Clear old APs from the controller’s database:
clear gab-db ap-name <ap-name>

clear gap-db ap-name <ap-name> (gap instead of gab)

Reset AP to Factory Defaults:
(ap)#purge (will restore default environmnet variables)

(ap)#factory_reset (will reset to factory default)

The difference can be seen in the case of an IAP been converted to CAP:
- If a purge is used, then the configuration that was pushed from controller is erased and the AP will still act as a new CAP
- If a factory_reset is used, then the AP rolls back to factory default and will act as an new IAP

Configure Controller IP address on AP:
(ap)# setenv maset <master-controler-address>

setenv master <master-controler-address> (master instead of maset)

Thanks

Hi Adil,

Thank you for your answer! I'll find sometime to correct the list. I also want to add a couple more.
